Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

This policy explains what information torqueandwax.com (“Torque and Wax”, “we”, “us”) collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we don’t use analytics or advertising trackers, the site sets no cookies for visitors, and we only receive what you choose to send us through the contact form.

Information We Collect

When You Browse

Like every website, our web host automatically records basic technical information in server logs: your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, the page that sent you and the date and time. These logs are used only to keep the site running and secure, for example to spot attacks and fix errors. They are kept by the host for a limited time and aren’t used to build a profile of you.

When You Contact Us

If you use the contact form, we receive your name (optional), your email address and your message by email so we can reply. Messages aren’t stored on the website, aren’t added to any mailing list and aren’t shared. We keep them in our inbox only as long as needed for the conversation. To stop spam floods, the site keeps a one-way hash of your IP address for one hour; it can’t be turned back into your address.

When You Search

Search terms you type into the site search are used to show results. They appear in the page address, so they can show up in the server logs described above; we don’t store them anywhere else.

Cookies

This site doesn’t set cookies for visitors. There are no analytics tools, ad networks or social media widgets, and the fonts are served from our own server. (People who manage the site get WordPress login cookies when they sign in; those don’t apply to visitors.) If this ever changes, we’ll update this page and ask for consent where the law requires it.

Amazon and Other Third Parties

Product images are loaded from Amazon’s servers, so Amazon receives the technical details any image request carries, such as your IP address and browser type. If you click a “Check price on Amazon” button, you leave this site and Amazon’s own privacy notice applies; Amazon may set cookies to credit the purchase to this site (see the affiliate disclosure). Amazon sends us reports of items ordered and commissions earned, never names, addresses or payment details.

Links to other websites are provided for your convenience. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for them.

How We Use and Share Information

We use the information above only to run and secure the site and to answer messages you send. We don’t sell or share personal information, including as “sale” and “sharing” are defined under California law, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising. Our web host and email provider process data on our behalf to provide their services. We’ll disclose information only if the law requires it.

Legal Basis for Visitors in the EEA and UK

We process server log data and contact messages on the basis of our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and replying to people who write to us.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict how it’s used. California residents have the right to know, delete and correct personal information and won’t be treated differently for using these rights. To make a request, use the contact form; we may need to confirm it’s really you. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 (16 in the EEA and UK), and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and access to its administration is protected. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we keep what we collect to a minimum.

Changes to This Policy

If we change how the site handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
